Her recipes, filled with love and rich flavours, inspired me to bring a piece of Jamaica to Scarborough, Toronto. At Patty Cake & Ice Cream, we take pride in offering authentic Caribbean cuisine, including Halal-certified meals, so everyone in our diverse community can enjoy the bold and vibrant tastes of the islands.

The Beginning
Our story starts in 1990, when Shawn J., the founder of Patty Cake & Ice Cream, first learned the art of making patties in his grandmother's kitchen in Jamaica. It was there that he developed a passion for Caribbean flavours and the desire to share them with the world.
The Opening of Patty Cake & Ice Cream
After moving to Canada and working tirelessly to bring his dream to life, Shawn opened the first Patty Cake & Ice Cream in Scarborough. The restaurant quickly became a local favourite for its authentic Jamaican dishes and freshly baked patties.
Second Location Opening in West Toronto
With overwhelming support from the community, Patty Cake & Ice Cream expanded to a second location in West Toronto, bringing the bold flavours of the Caribbean to even more people.
Launch of Catering Services
Continuing to grow, Patty Cake & Ice Cream introduced catering services in 2025, serving authentic Caribbean cuisine to events and gatherings across Toronto.
